The Arabic word intarsia means insertion. It is the decoration of various wooden surfaces,especially when restoring furniture, achieved by means of wooden inlays, veneers, in a way that the finished surface is in one plane. The material used for this purpose is veneer with a thickness of 0,6 or 0,8 mm. The veneer marquetry is produced from different types of wood logs by turning or slicing. The treatment of inlay patterns is not different from that of veneers, but it is more fragile due to the small width.
