How can I attach the wooden carvings?

No special tools are needed for attachment. You only need a few easily obtainable things: sandpaper, wood glue (D2 or D3), and something to clamp the wooden carvings while they dry. Steps for gluing: the carving itself does not require sanding, but it is advisable to prepare the furniture's surface by sanding. Apply glue to both dust-free surfaces and spread it evenly. After this, simply clamp the two surfaces together during drying. This can be done in several ways: with a cabinetmaker's clamp or by pressing with weights. If any glue seeps out around the carving, carefully wipe it away with a slightly damp cloth to avoid stains after drying. Depending on the temperature, the glue will hold after a few hours, so the clamp or press can be removed. For safety, it is advisable to wait for complete drying, which may take 12-24 hours.

How can wooden carvings be finished?

Our wooden onlays are sold unfinished, giving you complete creative freedom. You can paint, lacquer or stain the carved surfaces to match the style of the furniture. You may choose a layer of lacquer, which provides lasting protection. A coat of paint can highlight the details of the carving. The choice is entirely up to you, depending on the result you wish to achieve.

Acanthus leaf ornamentation in history

The leaf is one of the oldest and most significant decorative motifs in Western culture, present in art and architecture for over 2,500 years. As early as the 5th century BC, this spiky-leafed plant was used to decorate Corinthian capitals of columns, becoming a recurring motif throughout different periods of style history. Its primary meaning is eternal life, rebirth, and indomitable vitality, as the plant is extremely resilient and quickly regenerates, even when its leaves are cut. Acanthus running along the tops of cabinets and libraries creates a finishing, crowning effect as the capital of columns. Ornamentation featuring the acanthus pattern is a timeless choice, guaranteeing an elegant and classic appearance while embodying deep cultural roots and positive symbolism.
