All of closed cane webbing are natural, untreated surface which made of the core of the rattan material. So, they can be easily painted and varnished.
The exception is the rattan matting, marked with the letter N in the article number, because it is made of the outer skin, from the glossy shell of the rattan rod and is therefore more difficult to paint. This rattan roll is very strong but only painting and coloured with acryl or acetone base paint material.

We recommend it mainly for indoor decoration purposes, as the rattan roll do  not made of artificial rattan material, but of natural rattan material.

How can I fix, if I would like to use closed weave rattan as a door front or rattan inserts for sliding closet door?

If you want to use cane webbing as a door front, place a fiberboard or other stiffening sheet behind the cane webbing. Apply the adhesive to this stiffening sheet and then spread it evenly on the surface with a spatula of less than 1 mm. Then apply weight to the rattan material until the adhesive dries.

What type of glue should I use?

We recommend silicone glue for gluing.

What kind of paint is suitable for surface treatment, if I want to paint this cane webbing ?

It is important, Naturtrend advise do not use a water-based product when painting and gluing the closed weave rattan. Because, the rattan material will stretch under the influence of water!

How to fasten the rattan material to a frame to make it tight?

Before use, it is advisable to soak the rattan material in water, because then it will soften temporarily, making it easier to fix e.g. into a door frame. After drying, the rattan matting will become tight again.
