Tap water can sometimes discolour or grey the material if the water has a high iron or manganesium content so its better to avoid it!
Here’s a useful tip: add a few drops of Domestos or bleach to your distilled water which will keep it fresh up to 1-2 months. This way bacteria won't grow in it and you can use the water longer!
It's that simple ! This way your thonet will keep its original colour and quality.
