Light brown marquetry
Discover the secret of making marquetry
Inlay making and repairing furniture is one of the most time-consuming and patient activities at home. It takes careful work and a love of the craft to achieve beautiful inlaid furniture. Prefabricated inlaid banding strips are good for veneering. The most common use is for inlay framing of veneered surfaces. The inlay banding strips are 0,6 mm thick, the same as the most commonly used veneers, so they can be easily inserted into the veneer marquetry. The treatment of marquetry patterns is not different from that of veneers, but it is more fragile due to its narrower width. The risk of damage can be reduced by moistening. Naturtrend webshop now offers veneer marquetry supplies at reasonable prices.
Cutting of the wood inlays also requires great care. The measuring of the length of the marquetry should be very precise, where necessary, cut several times. To get a continuous intarsia pattern, care must be taken when matching the patterns.
Most types of glue used in the woodworking industry can be used for gluing inlay. You can use an iron to help the glue dry faster. Be careful not to use too high a temperature, otherwise the veneer will discolour.
Our Naturtrend Webshop offers a wide range of marquetry supplies, in a variety of colours and inlay materials. All inlay accessories are made of wood and can therefore be varnished as you prefer during repainig furniture at home. The product with article number INT-658, will be a fine addition to any inlaid furniture, blending well with most furniture designs.
Is it possible to produce custom-shaped, intarsia wood patterns elements?
There are, but as the inlay is very time-consuming, it is only worth producing over 500 metres. If a custom inlay is included in the request for quotation, we cannot manufacture it for orders under 2,000 pieces.
