The bamboo privacy screen is a natural, aesthetic solution that fits perfectly into the surroundings while preventing others from seeing into your yard or terrace. Balcony privacy screens discreetly ensure your privacy, which is especially useful when neighboring apartments are close. Privacy screens are available in a wide range, whether you are looking for fence privacy screen options or alternatives that function as suspended ceilings. If used as a suspended ceiling or awning, it will help cover any flaws or unevenness in the original ceiling.
If used outdoors without surface treatment, it will mold, just like any untreated wood material.
This is a second-class material, which may typically have the following defects: BC-30: Color defects, it also contains streaked sticks, but these do not hinder its use as a privacy screen. BC-12: Rust-colored discoloration. BC-13: Many of the thinner sticks are broken. It is important to note that one roll is 15 meters long, but due to shipping, it is usually divided into two or three pieces. Only purchase if you are able to use the product with this information in mind. In case of purchase, always ask for a photo and discuss the color with our colleague, as not every roll has the same defects!
This privacy screen material is available in 5m and 7.5m units, and in 15m rolls for personal pick-up. It is also available in various widths.
The privacy screen is not surface treated! For outdoor use, it must be surface treated; otherwise, it will become moldy. For this purpose, we recommend the same products as used for protecting outdoor wood products: Lazurán 3in1, Milesi, Akzo Nobel, etc. For more heavy-duty use, we recommend a thin layer of varnish, while for areas protected from direct rain, an oil treatment is sufficient.
Of course, if you want to install a bamboo blind in the kitchen that you see regularly and is at eye level, then this grade of material is not ideal for that. This is why we offer second-class materials: We always order first-class material for everything, but unfortunately, we occasionally receive some rolls that do not meet these standards. When we unpack the bamboo roll for custom blind manufacturing, we see what defects we have to deal with. We do not use these materials for making blinds, but since they are more colorful or have about four broken sticks per meter, they are perfectly suitable next to a fence to prevent visibility.
If you want to lengthwise cut the bamboo privacy screen material (perpendicular to the fibers), make sure to glue the weaving threads with wood glue at least 3 cm wide on both sides before cutting. If you do not do this, the material will immediately unravel after cutting and become unusable. The process is quite simple, check the gluing in the video below:
If you want to make widthwise cuts perpendicular to the sticks, we can do it for you for an extra fee, or you can do it yourself at home. The simplest way to cut the material at home is to make it narrower with tin snips. We also show this process in the video below:
The fence privacy screen offers a perfect solution if you want to maintain your private living space at home or in your garden. We offer a cost-effective solution for making a fence privacy screen or balcony privacy screen from woven bamboo shades. The surface of the balcony privacy screen must be properly treated, otherwise mold will inevitably occur. If collected on-site, we offer a discount for each 15-meter roll. When purchasing, be sure to request a photo of the goods and confirm the color with our colleague!
