This way, every hobbyist refurbisher and cabinetmaker can decide on the finish for the wooden carving themselves. Before applying any finishing method, we recommend cleaning the decoration surface of dust and grease! By using lacquer, stain, oil, or wax, the original grain pattern can be preserved and emphasized. Before staining, we recommend using a filler primer (such as Milesi brand), as different parts of the wood (like end grain) may show the color of the stain differently. By painting, the wooden carving can be matched to the color scheme of your home and furniture piece being made.
No special tools or expertise are needed to glue on wooden oblays! First, sand the back of the decoration and the receiving surface, then thoroughly clean them of dust. Then evenly apply a thin layer of wood glue to both surfaces and fit them together precisely. If some glue seeps out the side, it's best to wipe it off as soon as possible with a damp cloth to prevent marks. Finally, clamp the furniture and the decoration together tightly using a carpenter's clamp or press and wait until the glue sets. It is recommended to wait for complete drying, which can take up to 24 hours. After that, you can remove the clamp or press and you're done!
