For fixing wooden onlays, we recommend a simple wood adhesive (D2 or D3). First, clean and dust the receiving surface for proper adhesion. Then, apply a thin, even layer of glue to the back of the moulding and the prepared surface and join the pieces together. Always secure them with a woodworking clamp or weight during the drying period. Promptly wipe away any excess glue that appears with a damp cloth. Wait for the usually recommended 24-hour full drying time. If the glue is not sufficient, small brads or wire nails can also be used for fixing. Countersink the nail heads below the surface of the wood and correct the surface with wood filler. This provides secure and durable fixing for wood corner molding or wood window moulding.
Our products are sold in a natural, untreated state. The surface may be painted, stained, lacquered, or given any desired finish. In furniture making, using both stain and silk-matte varnish is common, as this highlights the carving’s details. Work should be done in several thin layers on a dust-free surface.
When gluing wood corner molding, do not use too much glue, as the excess material is difficult to correct. Dry fitting the ornamentation pieces is recommended before attachment. Before staining, treat the rosette with a filling primer (such as Milesi) so that the cut fibers from carving are fully filled. This way, every detail will be uniformly colored.
