Dear Customers!
It's easy to get confused when buying a new product. This is especially true if you are making a long-term choice and your bamboo blinds or bamboo wall cladding will be a fixture in your home for years to come. Below you will find the answers to many of the small questions you may have in the Naturtrend Impex FAQ knowledge base.
If you can't find the answer to your question, please contact us and we'll reply by email: [email protected]
1. Payment
1.1. Credit card, bank transfer, cash payment, invoice
1.1.1. What payment methods can I choose from?
You can choose from several payment methods; for credit card payments, you can select Mollie, ESP, Billie, Pay by Bank, Przelewy24, Blik, SEPA, Satipay, Multibanco, MBway, KBC, Swis, Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, Diners Club, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Additionally, you can pay by bank transfer or, for in-person pickup, pay in cash at our location in Szeged at a pre-arranged time.
1.1.2. Can I save my card information for faster purchases in the future?
Yes, after that, the system will automatically fill it in for you, and you’ll just need to enter the CVC number.
1.1.3. What should I do if my credit card payment failed?
Please open the payment link again. If it still doesn’t work, try using a different browser. If, unfortunately, it still doesn’t work, we can change the payment method to bank transfer or QR code payment.
1.2. Bank transfer
1.2.1. When and where should I transfer the payment for my order?
As soon as you receive the payment request, you can make the payment. This message will include the exact amount and our account number.
1.2.2. What should I enter in the “Remarks” (message) field for the bank transfer?
Please be sure to include the order ID with every payment.
1.2.3. How long does it take for you to process a bank transfer?
It’s very fast—just a few seconds—and automated. Except for the Polish bank; there, you always have to check manually, so things are often delayed by a day.
1.2.4. Can I make a transfer from a foreign bank account? In what currency?
Yes, you can also make transfers from a foreign bank account. EUR, PLN, CZK, GBP, etc…
1.2.5. What happens if I accidentally enter the wrong amount or an incomplete payment reference when making a transfer?
Even if the message section is not filled out completely, everything will still be fine. However, in that case, the payment will not be automatically processed and linked to the order. Our finance team reviews incoming payments several times a day and will resolve the issue manually.
1.3. Cash payment and cash on delivery
1.3.1. Is it possible to pay in cash on-site or at a pickup location?

1.3.2. Can I pay cash on delivery to the courier?
It depends. Cash on delivery is available in HU, PL, CZ, RO, SI, and SK, provided you are not ordering a custom-made product. Custom products are manufactured only after payment has been made in advance.

Electronically via email.
1.4.2. Can I request a business invoice (VAT invoice)?
Yes.
1.4.3. Where can I enter my company’s tax ID and billing information?
When entering your address, you must check the box indicating that you wish to place an order as a business; this will display two additional fields where you can enter the company name and the international tax ID number.
1.4.4. Can the billing information be changed after placing an order?
It is possible, but if you request a subsequent invoice amendment, there will be an additional administrative fee.
1.4.5.
I am purchasing as a non-Hungarian company (with an EU tax ID)—can I pay the net price (reverse charge / VAT exemption)?
Yes. The only requirement is that you have a valid EU tax ID number.
1.5. Credits and Refunds
1.5.1. How do I get my money back if I cancel my order or return a product?

If the code still does not work, please contact our customer service before finalizing your purchase!
1.7. Bank Accounts
1.7.1.
The company is headquartered in Hungary. Why do they have a foreign bank account? Is there an explanation for this?
Hungary is located outside the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). To ensure we receive transfers immediately, we have opened bank accounts in several SEPA countries. We have € accounts at Unicredit in Slovakia, Raiffeisen in Germany, and Wise in Belgium. You can transfer funds to any of them; we are the account holders for all of them. The advantage of the Wise account is that funds received there are automatically credited to your online store account. If you’d like to transfer € to our German or Slovak account, please let us know via email. We don’t have a EUR account in Hungary because euro transfers take about 4 business days to arrive, and our international customers find this too long.
2. Communication
2.1. In which languages can I communicate with the Naturtrend team?
We are available by phone and email in multiple languages. You can reach us in English, German, Czech, Slovak, Polish, Italian, French, Romanian, Croatian, Hungarian, and Spanish.

Can I reach the company by phone?
Yes, we are also available by phone. We accept calls on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Central European Time (CET).
2.3. Can we be reached by email?
We respond to email inquiries within 1–2 business days. You can also contact us via the “Contact” menu item in the online store.
3. Manufacturing, assembly, inventory
3.1. How quickly is the order handed over to the courier? (Processing time)
If you order a product that is in stock and payment (or cash-on-delivery) is made by 10:00 a.m. on the given business day, we will hand your package over to the courier service that same day.
3.2. How long does it take to manufacture the blinds I ordered?
Estimated completion time: (for informational purposes only)
- Indoor, standard size: 2–4 business days (+ shipping)
- Indoor, custom size: 4–6 business days (+ shipping)
- Outdoor, glazed finish: 5–8 business days (+ shipping)
- Outdoor, oil-finished: 10–12 business days (+ shipping)
3.3. How long does it take to manufacture a custom furniture leg or table leg?
You can also order furniture legs with part numbers starting with AS-AL and AS-DN in custom sizes. The production time for these is 2–3 weeks on average.
4. Shipping
4.1. Which shipping companies does Naturtrend Impex work with?
We always ship purchased items using the most cost-effective courier service based on the package size and delivery destination. Our shipping partners include GLS, UPS, TNT, DHL, FedEx, Express One, and Schenker.
4.2. How many days does it take for the package to arrive?
Packages shipped within Hungary are delivered within 1–2 business days. Typical delivery times for other countries are as follows: 2–3 business days: Romania, Slovakia, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia; 3–4 business days: Poland, Germany, Benelux countries, Italy, Bulgaria; 3–5 business days: France, Spain, the Baltic states, Finland, Sweden, Greece, Portugal, Denmark; 4–6 business days: Switzerland, Norway, the UK, Ireland; most packages are delivered to destinations outside the EU within 5–7 business days. (The time frames listed above are averages only; actual delivery times may vary depending on the exact delivery address.)
4.3. How do we package the order?
We always package orders to provide maximum protection for the product in question during shipping. Fragile products are secured to a custom-sized OSB board and then packaged to ensure they arrive at your doorstep intact.
4.4. What should I do if my package hasn’t arrived?
If your package does not arrive for any reason, please be sure to contact us. We will resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
4.5. How long does it take for the free sample package to arrive?
We ship via standard mail. Delivery takes 2–3 business days within Hungary, 5–8 business days within the EU, and 10–15 business days outside the EU.
5. Product Inventory
5.1. Is a particular product in stock?
You can only add products that are in stock to your cart and order them from our online store. If there is not enough stock of a particular product, please contact us for more information.
5.2. How often do you receive new stock?
The arrival of new shipments generally depends on the product, but we strive to manufacture and procure products that are currently in short supply as quickly as possible.
6. Free sample pack
6.1. How can I order a free sample pack?
We offer free samples of most of our products. Simply place your order for a free sample pack under the “Order Sample Pack” menu item in the online store. We will mail your selected samples (up to 4–5) within a few business days. This is important because the color reproduction of cameras and monitors may differ from reality. It’s no good for anyone if it turns out at the last minute that the color of the fabric for your custom-made bamboo roller shade is a different shade than you expected. If you do not request a sample, we cannot accept complaints regarding color variations in the bamboo roller shades.
6.2. How can I order a large sample pack?
We recommend this option primarily to businesses. Of course, anyone can take advantage of this opportunity. If you order large samples (approximately A4 size), we will assemble them for free. However, since the package exceeds standard letter size, you will be responsible for the shipping costs. In all cases, we will ship using the cheapest available option tailored to your specific needs.
7. Bamboo products
7.1. Wall coverings
7.1.1. What are bamboo wall panels made of?
Bamboo wall panels are made of thin bamboo slats glued to a fabric backing to form a roll. Some wall coverings feature slats that are simply cut to size, with the plant’s trunk and its natural grain still visible on the surface; others are processed, sanded completely smooth, and evenly stained and varnished.
7.1.2. How wide are the slats on the bamboo wall panels?
The width of the slats on bamboo wall coverings varies by model, ranging from 4 to 17 mm. The width of the slats is always specified in the product description.
7.1.3. How tall is the bamboo wall panel?
Bamboo claddings are available in several widths, depending on the type. Rolls are available in widths of 120 cm, 140 cm, 150 cm, 160 cm, 170 cm, and 180 cm. The width of the roll is always specified in the product description. The length of the wall covering is essentially the width of the bamboo roll.
7.1.4. What is the back of the bamboo wall covering like?
The back of the bamboo wall covering is made of a mesh fabric, to which the bamboo slats are glued. The gauze-like fabric holds the slats together.
7.1.5.
How do you cut bamboo wall panels?
Vertically, between two parallel slats, the bamboo cladding can be easily cut even with a craft knife or a decorative knife. For cuts perpendicular to the rods, it’s best to use a stronger cutting tool. This task can be done at home using a strong pair of shears (e.g., sheet metal shears) or a saw. If you’d like, we can do the latter for you for 1.5 € per meter.
7.1.6.
How do you install bamboo bamboo wall panels?
The best adhesive for bamboo wallpaper varies depending on the surface. In most cases, wood glue (type D2) is used because it is affordable and adheres the material well to the wall. Of course, contact adhesive or silicone can also be used.
7.1.7.
Can I cover the area around a connector or light switch with a bamboo wall panel?
Of course, no problem at all. Simply mark the location of the outlet or light switch on the bamboo wall panel and cut it out before attaching it. Remove the plastic cover from the switch, install the wall panel, and then snap the plastic cover back on after applying the adhesive. For your safety, turn off the power to the switch before beginning this task!
7.1.8. How do I trim the bamboo wall covering?
Use bamboo spacers and edge trim! Spacers are recommended when joining or aligning two separate wall panels. Edge trim should be installed all around the edges of bamboo wall paneling to make the final result even more aesthetically pleasing.
7.1.9.
What is the difference between first-class and second-class bamboo wall panels?
Very minor defects may occur in first-class bamboo wall coverings. There may be 1–2 small defects per meter of first-class material. In second-class material, there may be more defects per meter. These defects may include small spots, bamboo strips that do not fit perfectly, or bamboo strips with broken ends.
7.1.10. How is the surface of the bamboo wall covering treated?
Some bamboo wall panels have a natural finish, while others are treated with silk or high-gloss varnish. This varies by product; not all materials are available in all three finishes, but the information is always listed on the product page.
7.2. End caps and extensions
7.2.1. What is a bamboo edge trim used for?
The bamboo edge trim is used to finish the edges of the wall panel, thus covering the edges of the wall panel.
7.2.2. What is an extension cord used for?
The bamboo trim can be used where two bamboo panels meet—at the seam. It conceals any imperfections at the seam and serves as a decorative element.
7.2.3. What colors are bamboo blinds and extensions available in?
Bamboo blinds and extensions are available in light and dark brown finishes.
7.2.4. How do you cut bamboo edge trim and extension pieces?
Bamboo edge trim and extensions can even be cut with a hand saw.
7.3. Custom-sized roller blinds
7.3.1.
What is the maximum size I can order for made to measure bamboo blind?
Basically, yes, but there are a few size limits that are worth keeping in mind. We can manufacture bamboo roller blinds up to 240 cm wide (this is the width of the raw material, the full width of the roll). There is no minimum width, but it’s worth noting that narrow roller shades can be difficult to pull up due to their light weight, as they don’t glide smoothly. As for length, however, the roller shade can be any length.
7.3.2.
What types of made to measure bamboo blinds can I order?
A bamboo roller blinds are essentially rectangle—either vertical or horizontal—but we can also manufacture custom slanted roller blinds for you.
7.3.3.
What are slanted bamboo blinds like?
Slanted made to measure bamboo blinds have a slanted top. When placing an order, enter the maximum width and height of the surface. This will display an approximate price, which is accurate in 95% of cases. For slanted roller blinds, we always request a drawing with the exact dimensions via email, based on which we will confirm the exact price.
7.3.4.
What materials can roller shades be made of?
You can choose from all of our bamboo blind materials available in our store. Any bamboo roller blind material is suitable for indoor use. However, we do not recommend the BC-28 and C1C materials for outdoor use.
7.3.5.
Which bamboo roller blind material offers the best light-blocking properties?
It depends on where the bamboo roller blind will be installed. If you want to mount it horizontally or at a slight angle (up to 45 degrees), the BC-30 is the best choice. This is because the slightly overlapping slats almost completely block sunlight coming from above. For vertical shading, we recommend the BC-12, BC-13, or BC-09, or the C1C for indoor use. These models filter oblique light more effectively. For horizontal shading, the BC-28 material is also a good choice, but only for indoor use.
7.3.6.
Why is surface treatment important for outdoor bamboo blinds?
You can choose between oil and glaze finishes. Oil protects against moisture, so it provides partial protection. Glaze, on the other hand, provides complete water protection. It’s a good idea to reapply the finish every one to two years to ensure your bamboo roller blinds can withstand the elements.
7.3.7.
How much cord should I buy to re-string a bamboo roller blind?
You’ll need x*5.5 meters of cord for one roller blind. So if you have a 150 cm long bamboo roller blind, you’ll need 1.5*5.5=8.25 meters. But only if the roller blind has 2 mechanisms. If the roller blind has 3 mechanisms, then: x × 5.5 + 50%, so if a roller blind requires 10 meters of cord, add an extra 5 meters.
7.3.8.
What protection does the oil finish provide for outdoor bamboo blinds?
The oil finish provides partial water protection. It protects the bamboo roller blind from condensation.
7.3.9.
What protection does the glaze finish provide for bamboo roller blinds?
The glaze finish provides complete water protection for the outdoor bamboo blinds. It is recommended to reapply the finish every 1–2 years to ensure complete protection.
7.3.10.
What should I do if my bamboo roller blind gets wet?
If your bamboo roller blind gets wet, let it dry while it is lowered. Do not roll it up while it is wet or damp! If rolled up while wet, the shade may develop mold.
7.3.11. How do you care for your bamboo roller blinds?
Outdoor bamboo blinds should be treated with outdoor wood oil or wood stain every one to two years. It is best to leave the blinds outside from spring through fall. During the rainy periods of late fall and winter, remove them and store them in a dry place.
7.3.12. How can I tell if the outdoor bamboo blind have actually been treated with a glaze?
7.3.13.
How can I tell if the outdoor bamboo blind has actually been oil-treated?
Oiled bamboo blinds generally darken by one shade due to the oil. Additionally, a distinct, strong wood oil odor is noticeable when unpacking the package. There is no cause for concern; the strong oil odor will dissipate within a few days.
7.3.14.
What is the difference between first-class and second-class roller blind materials?
For prefabricated bamboo roller blinds, our selection also includes second-grade bamboo roller blinds at significantly lower prices. One or more characteristics of second-grade roller blinds:
- the height of the two edges of the bamboo roller blind may vary slightly (2 cm/m).
- The width of the blind may deviate from the nominal value by more than 3 mm.
- There may be more than one twisted slat per square meter.
- The color is less uniform.
- The slats at both ends of the roller blind may not be perfectly straight.

7.3.15.
How do I measure a made to measure bamboo blind? What should the width be if the roller blind only covers the window pane?
The bamboo roller blind covers only the window pane (it is 0.5–0.5 cm narrower on both edges than the window pane): In this case, the bamboo blind size should be specified so that it is 0.5–0.5 cm narrower than the width of the glass surface, ensuring that it does not touch the window frame.
7.3.16.
How do I measure a custom bamboo roller blind? What should the width be if the roller blind covers the window frame as well?
The bamboo roller blind also covers the window frame (it extends 1–1 cm beyond the glass on both sides). In this case, the width of the roller blind should extend at least 1–1 cm beyond the glass.
7.3.17.
How do I measure for a custom bamboo blind if it’s mounted on the wall or above a window recess?
Mounted on the wall, above the window recess (overhanging the window recess by 3–3 cm on both edges): In this case, allow for a 3–3 cm overlap on the right and left sides. Thanks to the 3–3 cm overhang, the bamboo roller blind will provide even better shading, as it will cover the entire window and prevent light from seeping in from the sides.
7.3.18.
How do I measure for a custom bamboo blind if I want to install it in a window recess?
In a window recess (should be 1–1 cm narrower than the wall): When mounting inside a window recess, the width of the roller blind must be 1–1 cm narrower than the recess so that the edge of the bamboo blind does not touch the wall.
7.3.19.
What should you keep in mind when determining the size of a bamboo blind?
In all cases, make sure the door handle is not in the way and that the bamboo blind will not hit it when lowered. Also check that there are no other obstacles in the way, such as a gas pipe.
7.3.20.
Can I purchase made to measure bamboo blinds with cash on delivery?
No, made to measure bamboo blinds cannot be purchased; production can only begin after payment has been received.
7.3.21.
How much do the blinds weight?
I can answer this question in terms of weight/square meters
C1C bamboo roller blind fabric - 0.8 kg / 1 square meter
BC09 bamboo roller blind fabric - 0.8 kg / 1 square meter
BC12 bamboo roller blind fabric - 0.8 kg / 1 square meter
BC13 bamboo roller blind fabric - 0.8 kg / 1 square meter
BC28 bamboo roller blind fabric - 1 kg / 1 square meter
BC30 bamboo roller blind fabric - 1.25 kg / 1 square meter
7.3.22.
What accessories come with the 1G bamboo blind?
The 1G roller blind comes with a single package containing: two hooks, small dowels for the hooks, two small screws, a C-shaped bracket, and an extra roller.
7.3.23.
What accessories come with the 2G, 3G, and 2R bamboo roller blinds when mounted on wood?
For 2G, 3G, and 2R roller blinds, if you’ve selected wood mounting: we’ll include enough wood screws in the package for installation. Plus, one unit package for each roller blind.
7.3.24.
What accessories are included with the 2G, 3G, and 2R bamboo roller blinds when mounting them to a wall (brick/concrete)?
For 2G, 3G, and 2R bamboo roller blinds, if you selected wall mounting: we will include enough wood screws and plastic anchors in the package for installation. Plus, one mounting kit per roller blind.
7.3.25.
What should the bamboo blind mechanism be like?
7.3.25.1.
What should you know about the 1G mechanism?
Classic, visible mechanism. Easy to install, all-metal construction. Can be installed without drilling. We do not manufacture roller shades taller than 3 meters with this mechanism, as the slat structure is not structurally suitable for such heights. The bamboo blind rolls up from the bottom.
7.3.25.2.
What should you know about the 2G hidden mechanism?
The mechanism is concealed by a skirt. This hides the mechanism from view. You do not need to factor this into the roller’s dimensions when specifying them! We also recommend this for large, extra-wide, or extra-tall outdoor bamboo blinds. The roller blind fabric rolls up from the bottom. It is essentially the same as the 3G model, except that the 2G model is covered by a skirt.
7.3.25.3.
What should you know about the 3G reinforced mechanism?
Its design is identical to the 2G model, but it has no skirt, so the mechanism is visible. We also recommend it for large, extra-wide, or extra-long bamboo blinds. It is particularly well-suited for the mechanisms of outdoor bamboo blinds. The shade fabric rolls up from the bottom.
7.3.25.4.
What should you know about the 2R reinforced (bamboo roman blinds) mechanism?
The bamboo roman blinds material folds up (rather than rolling up in the traditional way) when raised. The mechanism is concealed by a valance. This hides the mechanism from view. You do not need to take this into account when specifying the dimensions of the roller blind! Since manufacturing is more time-consuming than with other types of mechanisms, it is more expensive. Please note: This mechanism is not recommended for roller blinds taller than 1.5 meters!
7.3.25.5.
How do I mount a bamboo roller blind to the ceiling?
Vertical mounting of bamboo blinds: First, position the roller blind in place. Once it is properly positioned, mark the locations of the holes on the ceiling. Drill the holes at the marked locations. Insert the dowels into the holes; if necessary, tap them in a few times with a hammer to ensure they are securely in place. Insert the screws into the holes on both edges of the roller blind so that their tips protrude slightly beyond the slat. Align the slat with the holes and screw it in.
7.3.25.6.
How do I install a bamboo roller blind on the wall?
Horizontal installation. Position the bamboo blind and mark the drill holes on the wall. Drill the holes; you can mark the drill bit’s depth with a depth gauge. Tap in the pilot holes; use a hammer if necessary. Insert screws into both ends, ensuring the screw tips protrude from the slats. Align the slats with the holes, then screw them in.
7.3.25.7.
How can I install bamboo blinds without drilling?
ROLKA drill-free mounting brackets are suitable for this task. Please note! The drill-free mounting bracket must be purchased separately for the roller blind; it is not included.
7.3.25.8.
How do I install the plastic no-drill fastener for bamboo blinds?
Simply open the window. Snap the plastic hook onto the top edge of the window frame. Position and hang your blind. Attention! This model works exclusively with 1G bamboo roller blinds.
7.3.25.9.
How do I attach the bamboo blinds to a self-adhesive hook?
Measure where you want to place the self-adhesive hangers, then degrease the surface to ensure a secure bond. Remove the plastic film covering the adhesive. Carefully position the hanger and stick it in place.
7.3.25.10.
What size have the bamboo blind when rolled up?
You can find this information in a table at the bottom of the product page for any of our made to measure bamboo blind products.
7.3.25.11.
How much space does a 1G bamboo roller blind take up when rolled up?
- For a length of 100 cm, the roll diameter is 6 cm, and the raised height, including the mechanism, is 15 cm.
- For a length of 150 cm, the roll diameter is 7 cm, and the raised height is 16 cm.
- For a length of 200 cm, the roll diameter is 8 cm, and the height when retracted is 17 cm.
- For a length of 250 cm, the roll diameter is 8.5 cm, and the raised height is 18 cm.
7.3.25.12.
How much space do 2G and 3G bamboo blinds take up when rolled up?
- For a length of 100 cm, the roll diameter is 6 cm, and the raised height, including the mechanism, is 12 cm.
- For a length of 150 cm, the roll diameter is 7 cm, and the raised height is 13 cm.
- For a length of 200 cm, the roll diameter is 8 cm, and the raised height is 13.5 cm.
- For a length of 250 cm, the roll diameter is 8.5 cm, and the raised height is 14 cm.
7.3.25.13.
How much space need the 2R bamboo roman blinds when rolled up?
- For a length of 100 cm, the roll diameter is 6 cm, and the raised height, including the mechanism, is 19 cm.
- For a length of 150 cm, the roll diameter is 7 cm, and the raised height is 20 cm.
- For a length of 200 cm, the roll diameter is 8 cm, and the height when retracted is 20.5 cm.
- For a length of 250 cm, the roll diameter is 9 cm, and the raised height is 21 cm.
7.3.25.14.
How do I install a bamboo blinds on drywall?
First, position the bamboo blind in place. Once it is properly positioned, mark the locations of the holes on the surface. Drill holes at the marked locations. Insert the drywall anchors into the holes. Screw the screws into the holes on both edges of the roller shade so that their tips protrude slightly beyond the slat. Align the slat with the holes and drive the screws in.
7.3.25.15. How do I mount a bamboo roller blind to wood?
It’s really simple! Just place the bamboo blind in position and insert the screws into the holes in the top mounting rod. Tighten the screws.
7.3.25.16. How do I use bamboo blinds to provide shade under a glass roof?
At the moment, I can recommend two options for shading a roof or pergola. One option is relatively fixed. In this case, you need to attach battens to the inner side of the beams and mount the shade on them. The other option is to install a movable bamboo roof shade on steel wire. One is a fixed solution, the other is easily movable.
7.3.25.17.
How does the movable bamboo shades that slides along a wire under the roof work?
The ends of the bamboo shades are securely fastened. One side is secured with a screw and the other with a hook. A wire rope is stretched between the mounting points, along which the roller blind moves with the help of a mechanism. The roller blind can be operated from a single point. It is easy to move and can be stopped at any point. Maximum size: 240 cm × 300 cm within Hungary. Abroad: 230 cm × 300 cm. If you want a shade that is longer than this—for example, 5 meters—the shade must be divided into two sections. A suspension point is required in the center, and the two sections of fabric run toward the center from both sides.
BC28 fabric is not available as an option. Can be mounted on: wood, metal, and brick. Surface treatments available: oil or glaze.

Marquetry
8.1.1.
How is prefabricated wood inlay made?
In classic wood inlay, there is a base veneer from which a pattern is cut out and highlighted. Then, the same pattern is cut out of a veneer made from a different material and inserted into the base veneer. Both materials are glued to the backing layer. This is not how the inlays we offer are made. Instead, we assemble panels from different types of wood and then slice them. Of course, we must ensure that the assembled pieces fit together perfectly.
8.1.2. Why are the inlay strips 0.6 mm thick?
In Europe, 0.6 mm thick veneer is the most common, so it stands to reason that these prefabricated inlay strips should also be 0.6 mm thick. If the veneer is thinner and the inlay strip needs to be adjusted to fit, that’s not a problem, since the two materials just need to be sanded down to the same level. Another question that often comes up is whether it’s possible to buy thicker inlay strips. Yes and no. Thicker inlay strips can be manufactured, but they will be proportionally more expensive. So, for example, if a 0.6 mm-thick strip costs 100 units, a 1 mm-thick strip will cost 167 units. Furthermore, we only undertake the design and production of custom-thickness inlay strips for orders of 1,000 meters or more.
8.1.3. How will the fragile inlay arrive safely?
8.1.4. Is it possible to order inlay strips with a custom pattern?
Creating an inlay strip pattern requires a great deal of time and effort. For this reason, we only accept orders exceeding 1,000 meters for the design and manufacture of custom inlay patterns.
8.1.5. How long will it take for the inlay strip to arrive?
8.1.6.
How do I apply the inlay strips?
Steps for gluing the inlay strip
I. Preparing and cutting the groove: Use a router to cut the groove into the receiving wood surface. The ideal depth of the groove is 0.4–0.5 mm. This ensures that the 0.6 mm strip protrudes slightly from the surface, which is essential for later sanding it flush.
II. Dust Removal and Dry Fitting Thoroughly clean the cut-out slot of any dust. Cut the inlay strip to size and fit it into place without adhesive to check for a precise fit and to ensure the corners and joints align properly.
III. Applying the Adhesive Use a high-quality woodworking PVA adhesive (e.g., D2/D3 white glue). Using a small brush or fine putty knife, apply a thin, even layer of adhesive to the groove. Avoid using too much adhesive.
IV. 4. Inserting and Pressing the Inlay Place the strip into the slot and, using a wooden mallet or rubber roller, gently press it into the glue bed, working from the center toward the edges. Place a straight clamping strip on top (it’s a good idea to put plastic wrap underneath so that any adhesive that oozes out doesn’t stick the strip to the wood), then secure it evenly with clamps while it dries.
V. Allowing the Adhesive to Dry and Removing Excess Wait for the adhesive to dry completely (usually 4–24 hours, depending on the type of adhesive). Carefully scrape off the oozed adhesive—which is still rubbery and not yet fully cured—with a sharp chisel.
VI. Sanding Flat and Finishing After the adhesive has fully dried, use fine sandpaper (P180–P240) stretched over a straight sanding block to sand the protruding inlay flush with the substrate surface. Caution: Sand very carefully and evenly, because due to the protrusion, only ~0.1–0.2 mm needs to be removed from the 0.6 mm thickness, and it is easy to sand too much!
8.2.
Wood trellis panel
8.2.1.
How are wood trellis panel made?
The wood lattice panels are made of wooden slats that have been evenly sanded. The slats are reinforced with invisible adhesive at every point where they intersect. The surface of the lattice is unvarnished, so it can be painted later if desired. They are made from various types of wood, so you can choose from a variety of color shades.
8.2.2.
How can I view the wood trellis panel before purchasing?
If you would like to verify the quality and color of the material, you can request free 10 cm x 10 cm samples from us, which we will deliver by mail.
8.2.3.
Do you recommend the wood lattice panel for indoor or outdoor use?
These wooden slats are intended for indoor use, as each slat is only 2.5 mm thick, so the total thickness of the material is no more than 5 mm. Since this type of lattice is thinner than those typically used outdoors, it can be easily installed in any piece of furniture that can accommodate a single pane of glass. The grilles are frameless, making them suitable for installation in any type of furniture door.
8.2.4.
Do you also manufacture custom-sized wood lattice panels?
Unfortunately, we cannot manufacture wood trellis panels larger than 65 cm x 125 cm. However, we can cut them to smaller sizes.
8.2.5.
Can the entire panel of wood trellis be cut into smaller pieces of custom sizes?
Yes, we can cut the wood lattice panel to size. However, we can only work with a margin of error of 1–2 mm. This is perfect, for example, for door inserts. However, if it involves serious carpentry work, we recommend leaving the millimeter-precise cutting to a professional.
8.2.6.
What can a wood lattice panel be used for?
Wood has a wide range of uses; all it takes is a little creativity. Most often, it is used as adoor insert in built-in cabinets in bathrooms, entryways, and kitchens to allow for ventilation, but it can also be used to create room dividers and radiator cover panels.
8.2.7.

These items may exhibit minor imperfections such as discoloration, knots, or small breaks and cracks. If you are interested in our second-class stock, please contact us so we can provide more detailed information and, upon request, photographs of these carvings.
9.4.
How can I attach wooden carvings ornament with glue?
A simple wood glue is recommended for attaching the fine woodworking elements. Before gluing, lightly sand the surface to which the pieces will be attached; the decorative elements themselves do not need to be sanded, as we ship them already sanded. To ensure a durable result, take extra care to ensure that the receiving surface is free of dust and grease. Next, apply a thin, even layer of wood glue to both prepared surfaces, then align the two pieces precisely. While the glue is drying, clamp them together using a joiner’s clamp or a weight. If any glue oozes out from the sides, don’t worry—just wipe it off with a damp cloth. It’s best to wait the recommended 24 hours for the glue to dry completely.
9.5.
Can furniture wooden carvings be oiled? If so, how?
Yes, carved decorative wood carvings are ideal for surface treatment with oil. Traditional wood oil is excellent for this purpose. After shaking the bottle thoroughly, apply the oil to the entire surface of the ornament using a clean cloth. Let it sit for a few minutes so the wood can absorb the oil, which will bring out the wood grain. Finally, use another clean, dry cloth to wipe off any excess oil, preventing any potential streaks. The treated surface will dry in about a day.
9.6.
How should wooden carvings and fine woodworkings be treated? Is it necessary to paint or varnish them?
Our wood carvings are sold in a natural, untreated surface, so they can be painted, varnished, stained, or oiled as desired. The method of surface treatment depends on the desired effect and your needs: Painting: They can be painted any color you like with opaque paint, allowing them to perfectly match the style of your furniture or room, while also highlighting the details of the carving.
- Varnishing: Not mandatory, but strongly recommended for long-lasting protection. A clear coat of varnish protects the surface from wear and tear, makes cleaning easier, and highlights the wood’s natural grain.
- Staining and Oiling: Staining can alter the wood’s color tone (e.g., to achieve a darker, more refined wood effect) while allowing the wood’s original pattern and grain to remain visible.
9.7.
How can I fix the defect in the second-grade decoration?
Second-grade products may have minor imperfections on the carved surface. These can be easily removed with wood putty or a wood filler. Fill in the defective area with putty, wait for it to dry, then sand it until smooth. After that, the ornament is ready to be painted! (video)

11. Rattan products
11.1. Closed cane webbing and rattan panels
11.1.1.
What can closed rattan sheets be used for?
Closed rattan fabric is primarily used for decorative purposes. It can be made into wall hangings, door panels, or room dividers. It can also be used in other creative ways—it all depends on your imagination.
11.1.2.
Do I need to soak the open weaved or closed cane webbing?
In most cases, open weaved or closed cane webbing must be soaked before use (except when gluing it to a back panel, in which case the dry material is applied). Soak it for 15–20 minutes in distilled or deionized water. If you wish to reuse the water, add a few drops of bleach (such as Domestos) to prevent bacterial growth.
11.1.3.
How many different ways can I fix the closed rattan fabric?
There are several options for attaching rattan material. It can be stapled into a frame or glued to a base. In some cases, it can even be glued directly onto a transfer layer.

How can I get rattan fabric at a discount?
The rattan fabric we offer can be purchased by the running meter. It is also possible to order small quantities of woven rattan. When purchasing a whole roll of rattan fabric, we offer you a discount of 10% off the product price.
11.1.5.
How do I mount the closed rattan fabric (glued to the backing) onto a frame?
The closed weaved rattan fabric must be glued to a backing material (such as a backing board) and then placed into the frame. Do not use a water-based adhesive, as the wet woven fabric will stretch. When it dries, it will deform the backing material. Use silicone, for example, for gluing, which should be spread with a notched trowel. The material must be weighted down (pressed) while it dries.
11.1.6.
What should I use to glue the rattan fabric?
Use silicone or contact adhesive. Do not use water-based adhesive!
11.1.7.
How can rattan fabric cut?
Rattan fabric can easily cut with a pair of sturdy hand shears.
11.2.
Open cane webbing
11.2.1.
What material is open cane webbing made of?
The rattan webbing we offer is made of natural materials. Rattan, also known as the rattan palm, is a fast-growing, vine-like climbing plant native to the primeval forests of Southeast Asia. It can grow vines up to 200 meters long, some of which have a diameter of 5 cm. It’s safe to say that rattan is one of the longest plants on Earth. In addition, we also offer a cellulose-based rattan material. The material marked “PTH” is a cellulose-based fabric, making it particularly environmentally friendly and equally decorative.
11.2.2.
What quality of rattan webbing should I choose?
It’s worth choosing from three quality levels based on the following usage criteria: S, or Superior—this is the truly sturdy option, best suited for chairs. N, or Normal—if, for example, you’re making a radiator cover or a door insert. And D, or Decor—if you just want to use it for decoration. (video)
11.2.3.
What widths of rattan fabric are available for purchase?
Rattan fabrics are available in widths of 45, 50, 60, or 90 cm.
11.2.4.
How long is a roll of cane webbing?
The cane webbing are delivered in rolls that are 15.24 m long.
11.2.5.
Are there cane webbing with different hole sizes?
There are also several types of rattan webbing available in terms of hole spacing. Our store primarily stocks materials with a ½ hole spacing, which means the pattern repeats every half inch. In addition, materials with a ⅝ hole spacing are also available. The latter is only available in S grade, i.e., chair-repair quality.

11.2.6.
Do I need a rattan fabric with ½ or ⅝ hole spacing?
There are several types of rattan fabric with different hole patterns. At Naturtrend, we generally keep two types in stock. Their pattern repeat can be ½ or ⅝ of an inch, which is indicated in the product code. For example: TH-½-60-S. Which one do you need? If you’re buying a new one, it doesn’t matter—just choose the one you like best. If you’re replacing an existing piece, it’s important that it be exactly the same; you can calculate this as follows: Count the hole spacing. 1 col = 2.54 cm. How many holes are there in 1 inch? There are 4 holes in 5.5 cm. Measure from the rightmost thread to the rightmost thread of the 4th hole.
5.5 cm / 2.54 cm = 2.16 cm 2.16 / 4 (holes) = ½ So the fabric is ½. How many holes are there in 1 inch? There are 4 holes in 6.9 cm. Measure from the rightmost thread to the rightmost thread of the 4th hole. 6.9 cm / 2.54 cm = 2.71 cm 2.71 / 4 = 0.677 So the fabric is ⅝. It’s a good idea to measure the fabric both horizontally and vertically, because the fabric may be slightly warped. With old hand-woven chairs, it’s quite possible that neither hole spacing will match exactly.
11.2.7.
Is there a roll discount on rattan fabric?
Yes, we do! If you purchase one or more full rolls, we’ll give you a 10% discount.
11.2.8.
How do I stretch the rattan webbing onto a frame?
All you need to attach the material to the frame is a stapler. With it, you can easily attach the material yourself at home. All you have to do is soak the material in ion-exchanged or distilled water for about 10–15 minutes before attaching it. When exposed to water, the rattan sheet material softens, stretches slightly, and does not tear. In short, it becomes easy to handle. After removing it from the water, blot off any excess water, position it on the frame, and staple it in place with the hand stapler.
Do not fasten it too tightly, because once it dries, the fabric will return to its original size and may tear along the fastenings. If you prefer not to use a stapler for fastening, fix the rattan sheet material into the groove routed into the wooden frame using a strip of rattan core coated with wood glue.
11.2.9.
For what kinds of projects can cane webbing material be used?
It is primarily a material used in furniture manufacturing and interior design. It is most commonly used as an insert for furniture doors, chair seats, and room dividers. However, interior designers are increasingly choosing it for suspended ceiling installations as well.
11.2.10.
Which webbingmaterial can be used in humid environments?
The black plastic artificial open cane webbing can be used even in wet or humid environments. Products made of natural rattan are not suitable for use in wet or highly humid environments.
11.2.11.
Can rattan fabrics and cellulose fabrics be painted?
Rattan fabrics and cellulose fabrics are all paintable. They can be treated with water-based or solvent-based stains or paints. Caution! Always perform a test application to ensure successful results.
11.2.12.
How does the rattan fabric colours change over time?
The color of painted and natural rattan fabrics will darken over time. The color of cellulose fabrics will not change over time.
11.2.13.
Which is easier to paint, rattan or cellulose fabric material?
The cellulose fabric material is easier to dye, and the color will be uniform every time. Natural rattan fabric is a natural material, so it may occasionally happen that a single strand absorbs the dye slightly more than others. But it is precisely this natural appearance that gives it its beauty.
11.2.14.
How should we soak the rattan sheet before use?
To make the rattan material easier to work with, it is recommended to soak it in water for 10–15 minutes. This softens it, prevents it from breaking, and makes it easier to work with. WARNING!!! DO NOT soak it in plain tap water! Use DISTILLED water or ION-EXCHANGED water. If you use regular tap water, the rattan fabric may turn gray. If you soak it in distilled or ion-exchanged water, the material will not discolor from soaking.
11.2.15.
What kind of stain can be used on rattan fabric?
We’ve found that solvent-based stains work best for us. We do not recommend water-soluble stains. If you do decide to use a water-based stain, be sure to test it first.
11.2.16.
What kinds of defects can occur in rattan fabric material?
Only thinning weave threads are considered a material defect, as they weaken the structural integrity and durability.
11.2.17.
What is not considered a defect in Thonet material?
Rattan is a natural material, so minor natural spots or darker fibers in the weave are not considered defects. Any number of darker fibers may occur in the fabric, while the accepted standard for darker spots is a maximum of 3 per linear meter.
11.2.18. What is the usable width of Thonet materials?
Thonet-style rolled fabrics (products with item numbers beginning with TH, PTH, ROP, PROP, RA, or BLTH) are typically 1–2 cm wider than their nominal width, measured from seam to seam. Unfinished threads are not included in this measurement; they may add a few more centimeters.
11.3. Rattan, rattan sticks
11.3.1. What is rattan, and what is it used for?
Rattan is made from rattan (rotang palm, Spanish cane), a characteristic vine with a creeping stem that grows in tropical rainforests. The rattan is drawn through a special, circular knife, which gives the rattan its final cylindrical/rod shape; its length is typically more than 2.5 meters. It has many uses: it’s excellent for weaving small baskets, restoring or repairing wicker furniture and Thonet chairs, and it can also be made into incense sticks and karate sticks. (video)
11.3.2. What is a rattan stick (karate stick)?
A rattan stick is essentially a piece of rattan palm that has been cut to size and stripped of its bark.
11.3.3. What are rattan sticks and rattan rods used for?
It is used in the furniture industry for the frames of various pieces of furniture, such as garden chairs, but rattan sticks are also used in combat sports as weapons during training because they are light, strong, and flexible.
11.3.4. What are rattan and rattan sticks used for?
Rattan or rattan sticks can be used for a variety of purposes. They can be made into small baskets, wicker furniture, or even scented sticks. Craft workshops create a whole range of creative ideas using this material.
11.3.5. How many meters of material are there in one kilogram of rattan?
The number of meters per kilogram depends on the diameter. It varies as follows: A bundle with a fiber diameter of 1.5 mm contains approximately 904 m. 11.3.10. How many meters of material are in a bundle, i.e., 500 g on a rail?
A bundle of Peddig reed weighing 500 g contains approximately 250 m of material.
11.3.11. What is the difference between a rattan rail and rattan?
The material of this product is the same as that of rattan, which is the inner, solid part of the rattan palm. It differs from rattan in that it is not drawn through a round pulley but is flat and rectangular in shape. This results in a flat, strap-like product. Because it is a wide, flat material, it is extremely flexible.
11.3.12. What is the best way to install blinds using a Peddig rail?
Before use, it is recommended to soak the rattan rod in water for 5–10 minutes; this allows it to be bent without breaking and to easily follow the curves. If you are wrapping thicker-diameter wood or rattan, coat the surface with wood glue, which leaves no visible residue after drying. As it dries, the rattan tightens, ensuring a secure hold during the process.
11.4. Spinning and knitting yarn
11.4.1. What are spinning and knitting yarns made of?
The raw material for rattan reeds or braiding strands is rotang, also known as the rattan palm, which grows in shady primeval forests, creeping along the ground and up trees. The stem develops with longitudinal fibers beneath a strong bark and can reach lengths of 200–300 meters. It is very strong and flexible.
11.4.2. How much material is in 1 bundle (0.25 kg) of chair-weaving cord?
One bundle of material is enough to weave the seat and backrest of an average dining chair. So, if you don’t waste any, two 45×45 cm pieces will suffice.
11.4.3. What can be made from chair-weaving cane?
Can be used for weaving the seat and backrest of a chair.
11.4.4. How can rattan fiber be used?

11.4.5. How many meters of material are there in 1 kg of flat rattan strand (made from the outer bark of rattan)?
1 kg of flat binding cord contains approximately 300 m of material. (KOTOZO-KULSO-KILORA-6mm-1)
11.4.6. Why might the Thonet fabric become wavy when stretched into the frame?
Several factors can contribute to waviness in closed or open rattan material:
- The material was not soaked for long enough. Soaking for at least 10–15 minutes is ideal.
- It was not stretched sufficiently during installation.
- If the air humidity is high, the Thonet material may become wavy. For example, due to ventilation. Don’t worry—it will straighten out again as it dries.
11.4.7. Why might the Thonet material glued to the panel become wavy?
If rattan or Thonet material is glued to the substrate, it may warp if not glued properly.
For professional adhesion, it is recommended to use silicone. It is important to apply the adhesive evenly in a thin layer to the receiving surface. Align the two surfaces and press them together while the adhesive dries.
12. Chair Repair
12.1.
Do we offer repair and restoration services for Thonet chairs?
We can professionally repair both hand-woven and knot-fastened Thonet chairs. We repair hand-woven (with holes all around) Thonet chairs using the original technique. We charge for these Thonet chairs based on the area of woven material in square centimeters. For Thonet chairs secured with a cord, the length of the cord running around the chair determines the cost of the repair.
12.2. How can I tell if my Thonet chair is authentic?
In the knotted type, a knot (U-shaped indentation) is carved into the edge of the chair’s seat, and the pre-woven rattan weave is secured there with rattan.
