This wooden ornament is available in various sizes: width from 20 cm to 60 cm, height from 6 cm to 15 cm, and thickness between 0.7 cm and 1.2 cm. The size tolerance is plus or minus 3%. The botanical ornament features a central rose decoration with tendril motifs. The material is exotic wood (rubberwood), which is an eco-friendly choice since its timber is repurposed for furniture making after latex production. It is an excellent base material for wooden carvings, as its medium hardness provides the ideal balance between workability and durability. Its light, homogeneous color and even grain make it perfect for crafting detailed decorations, compatible with all types of finishing. This product is not finished.
The wooden carvings are sent to you in a ready-to-use, pre-sanded state, so all you have to do is attach and finish them. It can be easily applied to your chosen surface and simply finished, making your old, soon-to-be restored furniture unique. As a cabinetmaker or hobby user, you can save time and effort by choosing these ready-made carvings.
Surface treatment can vary according to needs: painting, varnishing, glazing, waxing, or oiling. One thing is always the same and important—the surface must be clean and free of dust. With varnishing, glazing, staining, oiling and waxing, you can enhance the wood grain. However, painting covers the grain. Before painting and glazing, it is recommended to treat the decoration with filler primer (e.g., Milesi) as the cut fibers color differently. For oiling and staining, the process is simple: wipe the surface with oil or stain using a clean cloth, then after a few minutes, remove any excess. Several methods are available for attaching, but the simplest is application with wood glue. It is important that the surfaces to be glued are clean and free from dust. Sand the receiving surface (the back of the woodcarvings does not need sanding), then remove the dust. Then apply a thin, even layer of general woodworking glue to both surfaces, and join them together. Wipe away any excess glue with a damp cloth before it dries to prevent staining. Clamp the two surfaces together with a cabinetmaker's clamp or press and allow them to dry. Drying usually takes about 24 hours, so it is worth waiting this time.
This wooden decoration fits into a classic Baroque–Rococo style. The forms are rich, curved, and elegant, reminiscent of 18th–19th century furniture decoration. The carved tendrils add dynamism and elegance to the ornament. Explore our gallery for more ideas using these wooden decorations! On woodcarvings, the rose often symbolizes beauty and harmony, representing the cyclical nature of life and continuous renewal.
