Wooden carvings with bow and floral motif

The FK-571 wooden carvings is a meticulously crafted piece, decorated with a floral motif and bow. The ornament fits perfectly to chests of drawers, vitrines or drawer fronts used in vintage furniture repair. Cabinetmaker workshops often use it as a decorative accessory, since the ornament is symmetrical and combines easily with other carved elements. We also recommend the FK-571 carvings for Biedermeier furniture restoration, which you can purchase in our online store. In addition to our decorative wooden elements, other products can also help with furniture restoration.

Why should you choose our floral wood carvings?

Naturtrend's carvings are made exclusively of solid, real wood, ensuring outstanding quality. The surface of the wooden carvings is prepared and sanded, so it is immediately ready for painting or glazing. In our selection, beyond carvings decorated with a floral motif, you will find many classic patterns, widely accepted in furniture making and representing several styles such as baroque or rococo. These ornaments are useful not only for vintage furniture repair but also for making new furniture.

What are the further advantages of choosing our wooden carvings?

The ornaments you can add to the cart are in stock and can be shipped immediately. There is no long waiting time—if you order a ready product in the morning, we hand it over to the courier at the latest by the next afternoon. We deliver our products throughout Europe. Our wooden carvings can be glued onto almost any wood or wood-covered surface. They can also be attached to non-wood surfaces using the appropriate adhesive. You can also use our second-class ornaments for furniture restoration after a little repair.

How can the ornaments be finished?

Our carvings are sold unfinished, so you can decide how you want to finish them. You may choose varnish, glaze, stain, waxing or even oiling for this purpose. It is important that the carving is always clean and dust-free. When painting in color, the wood's color and grain are not visible. It is recommended to use a filler primer (Milesi) for uniform coloring, as it fills the cut fibers. During glazing, depending on the coloring material, the character of the wood and its original structure may remain visible. Staining, oiling or waxing all keep the original pattern of the wood visible. With gilding or gold leaf application, you can make the surfaces more elegant and radiant.

Preparation and fixing of wooden carvings

When restoring, surface preparation is key. If you opt for a full restoration, it is advisable to sand the entire surface down to the wood, first with rougher, then increasingly finer sanding tools. If there are spots remaining that can only be removed by hand sanding, this can be done with good quality sanding cloth or sponge. Before gluing, be sure the surface is clean and grease-free. For gluing, you need woodworking glue (D2, D3), as well as weights or a quick clamp. Apply a thin, even layer of glue to both surfaces, then position the ornament where desired. Press down during drying, then carefully wipe off any excess glue that seeps out with a slightly damp cloth. Although the glue dries clear, it is difficult to remove once hardened, and paint or glaze may not adhere well, resulting in incomplete coverage.

What should I do if I cannot fix the ornament with glue?

If gluing is not suitable for some reason, the wooden carvings can also be mechanically fixed. For this task, it is recommended to use small panel pins or wire nails, as they are less visible and do not damage the wood. It is important to insert the nails into pre-drilled holes to prevent the wood from cracking. Heads can be tapped below the wood surface with a countersink, making it easier to cover the area with wood filler later. Repair the position of the head with wood filler. This method offers a secure and durable solution for fixing the ornament.

Decorative motifs in our history

The floral motif and bow decoration were characteristic elements of 18th-century rococo furniture art. These patterns evoke the forms of nature and represent lightness and harmony in decoration. The carving technique became widespread throughout Europe at this time, with cabinetmaker masters often applying it to the fronts of chests of drawers and cabinets.

Second class carvings

If you can see and select the second class product, there are also a few second class ornaments made from that carving. These items may have minor defects such as discoloration, warping, or small chips or cracks. If you are interested in our second class products currently in stock, please contact us so that we can provide you with more detailed information and, if requested, photographs of these carvings.
