How are turned wooden furniture legs made?
Steel turning is a machining process for machining turned parts. The workpiece is fixed to a horizontal axis. In our case, this means a prepared piece of beechwood. Once the correct speed of rotation has been achieved, chips are removed from the rotating workpiece by a specialist using a special single-edged chisel. This is how the desired furniture leg shape is formed. Of course, templates are now available to make the job easier. However, this activity still requires great skill and dexterity. Once the workpiece is in its final shape, all that remains is sanding. And then the ends have to be worked and removed from the machine. The process can be used to produce a myriad of shapes and sizes. It can be used to make cabinet legs, photo legs or stamped table legs.

This furniture leg fits the Biedermeier style
These furniture legs hark back to the Biedermeier era, during which the bourgeoisie gave way to a unique cultural taste in interior design. Closely related to this, a style named after King Louis-Philippe developed in France, taking its forms from the Rococo, among others. The Biedermeier style did not offer much in the way of new furniture legs.
