The carving is made from exotic (rubber) wood, which is an eco-friendly choice as the wood is reused for furniture purposes after latex production. How can wooden carvings be surface-treated?
There are various surface treatment options, such as varnishing, glazing, staining, oiling, or even gilding. When varnishing, the varnish may be silk or high-gloss, but it is important to note that varnishing requires the greatest care and expertise. Before glazing and painting, it is recommended to use a filler primer (e.g. Milesi) to fill the cut wood fibers so the application is evenly colored. Oiling is a very simple process, so even those new to woodworking can confidently try it. For oiling, simply wipe the surface with a clean cloth and oil, and after a short wait, wipe off the excess.
The symbolism of tendril and floral motifs
