The plant ornament comes in several sizes: width from 7 cm to 10 cm, height from 13.2 cm to 17.9 cm, and thickness from 2.1 cm to 3 cm. The wooden carving features a plant design, namely an acanthus leaf motif. Material: maple. Since maple is considered a moderately hard wood, providing an ideal balance of durability and workability, it is excellent for wooden carvings. Its light, creamy color and elegant appearance accept various finishes well. It is hard to deform and retains its shape long-term. It has no finish.

How can wooden ornaments be mounted?
No special tools are required for fixing them. Only a few easily accessible items are needed: sandpaper, wood glue (D2 or D3), and something to clamp the wooden carving during drying. Steps for gluing: 1) Sand the back of the ornament before gluing, and if possible, prepare the surface by sanding it as well. 2) Apply glue to both previously sanded, dust-free surfaces and spread it evenly. 3) Then, we simply need to clamp the two surfaces together while drying. 4) This can be done in several ways: clamping with a carpenter's clamp or pressing with weights. If any glue oozes around the ornament, we recommend wiping it off with a slightly damp cloth, preventing any trouble later. Depending on the temperature, after a few hours the glue will hold sufficiently, so the clamp or press can be removed. For safety, it is worth waiting for full drying, which can take 12–24 hours.
How can I treat wood carvings?
Our products are available on the webshop sanded, but without surface finish. This ornamentation perfectly accepts both transparent and covering finishes. Therefore, you can paint, varnish, or stain this wooden ornament to match the newly made furniture. Before applying a finish, prepare the ornament, ensuring the surface is dust-free and degreased. The acanthus leaf motif is one of the most significant decorative elements from antiquity, symbolizing eternal life, rebirth, and the invincible power of nature in Greek culture. In Roman culture, it became a symbol of victory, glory, and immortality. This motif returned to its original classical meanings during the Renaissance, while also acquiring new humanist significance, representing the harmony between human creativity and nature. On wooden furniture carvings, acanthus leaves appeared especially richly, as creeping tendrils, in spiral shapes, and often combined with flowers.
