Antique furniture restoration and renovation can be expensive and time-consuming unless we use prefabricated decorative wooden mouldings. The affordable wooden ornaments from Naturtrend help turn restoration into a creative leisure activity rather than a burden. Anyone with some DIY skills can easily install these mouldings. A cabinetmaker can assist in properly installing the decorative wooden mouldings. Prefabricated wooden onlays not only greatly speed up the process but also significantly reduce costs due to their affordable price.
The dimensions of the moulding are: width from 4 cm to 12 cm, height from 9 cm to 18 cm, and thickness from 1.4 cm to 3 cm. It is available in several sizes, with a size tolerance of plus or minus 3%. The capital of the column features an acanthus leaf Greek pattern. It is made from exotic (rubber) wood. Rubberwood is an eco-friendly choice, as the wood is reused for furniture making after latex extraction. It is a medium-hard wood that is stable and durable, yet relatively easy to work with. Its light, cream-colored base tone combines well with other woods and receives various surface treatments excellently. We sell it unfinished.

With wooden carvings, you can also create special furniture legs. During antique furniture restoration, the combination of the two forms merges stability with elegance. Our wooden onlays fit perfectly to the legs of cabinets, tables, or dressers, highlighting the form of the furniture. They are easy to apply, making decoration quick and simple.
First of all, we can carry out the restoration in a highly cost-effective way, since we only need to pay for the raw materials. Secondly, the restoration does not take weeks or months, as we can work at our own pace. Furthermore, we can express our creativity and create a piece we can be proud of. Environmental concerns are not negligible either; by restoring, we can prevent furniture from ending up as waste, and there is no need for new product manufacturing. Naturtrend's wooden ornaments are made exclusively from solid, real wood, guaranteeing outstanding quality.
For gluing wooden onlays, we recommend using wood glue. As a first step, sand the receiving surface and carefully remove any dust. Apply a thin, even layer of wood glue to both prepared surfaces, then carefully join the two pieces together. For drying, press them together with a cabinetmaker clamp or a weight. If glue seeps out on the sides, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth. It is advisable to wait the recommended 24 hours for drying.
If gluing is not suitable for any reason, the moulding can also be fixed mechanically. For this task, small brads or wire nails are recommended, as they are less visible and do not damage the wood. It is important to insert the nails into pre-drilled holes to prevent the wood from splitting. You can sink the heads below the wood surface with a countersink, making it easier to cover the area later with wood filler. This method provides a safe and lasting solution for securing the decorative element.
