The repair of a hand-woven thonet chair requires a great deal of expertise, especially when the backrest is of such a difficult shape. Carefully measure and cut the rattan fabric. Rattan webbing can easily be cut to size with a large pair of scissors. It is a good idea to soak the cane in water before using it, as it will soften temporarily. This makes it easier to fix the wet thonet material, for example in the door frame.
