It is made from exotic wood. It has ecological advantages as it is made from by-products of rubber plantations, thus considered a recycled material. Its medium-hard structure ensures sufficient durability, yet it is easy to work with and carve. Its light, creamy base color combines well with other woods and is excellent for a variety of finishes. What finishing methods can be used on wood carvings?
Thanks to the good properties of the exotic wood, it responds well to all finishing procedures. The grain of the wood can be accentuated by varnishing, glazing, staining, oiling, or waxing. In certain cases, such as staining, it is advisable to use a filler primer (like Milesi) so that different parts of the wood (such as end grain) absorb the top coat evenly. With topcoat paint, the ornaments can be made the same color as the furniture, thus making them uniform. Whichever finishing method is chosen, the surface of the wooden carvings UK should be dust- and grease-free beforehand.
How can wood carvings be glued on?
No need for cabinetmaker expertise or special tools! As the first step of gluing, sand the receiving surface and dust it thoroughly. Next, apply a thin layer of woodworking glue to both surfaces. Join the two pieces and press them together using a wood clamp or a weight. Any glue that seeps out should be wiped off immediately with a damp cloth so it leaves no marks after drying. It's best to leave the clamp or weight in place for the full drying time, which can take up to 24 hours.
