Besides the grapevine motifs, this carving is decorated with acanthus leaf and peacock feather patterns. It is made of exotic wood, whose light, creamy base color combines well with other timbers and takes various finishes excellently. This exotic wood, actually rubberwood, offers a practical and economical solution for furniture renovation thanks to its competitive price. This product is unfinished.

What surface finishes can be applied to wooden carvings and mouldings?

All wood carvings available in our webshop are pre-sanded and sold in a natural, untreated state. This allows every hobby furniture renovator and kitchen joiner to decide on the surface finish for the wooden decoration. Before applying any finishing method, we recommend dusting and degreasing the surface of the decoration! With lacquer, stain, oil, or wax, the original wood grain pattern can be preserved and highlighted. We recommend using a filling primer (for example, Milesi brand) before staining, as different wood parts (such as end grain) can reflect the stain color in varying shades. By painting, the wood carving can be matched to the color scheme of your home and the furniture piece being created.

How can decorative wooden mouldings be attached?

No special tools or expertise are required to glue the wooden decorations! First, sand the back of the decoration and the receiving surface, then carefully remove any dust. Next, apply a thin coat of wood glue to both surfaces evenly and carefully fit them together. If any glue seeps out from the sides, it is best to wipe it off immediately with a damp cloth to avoid leaving marks. Finally, clamp the furniture and decoration together tightly with a joiner's clamp or press and wait for the glue to set. It is advisable to wait for complete drying, which may take up to 24 hours. After this, you can remove the clamp or press, and you're done!
