It is made of exotic (rubber) wood. Rubberwood is an eco-friendly choice, as it is repurposed for furniture making after latex production. For carvings, its medium hardness is especially valuable as it creates an ideal balance between workability and durability. Thanks to its light, homogenous color and uniform grain, it is excellent for creating detailed decorations and is compatible with all types of finishes. The ornament is untreated.

What is the recommended technique for attaching wood carvings?

It is fundamentally recommended to attach them using simple wood glue. If for some reason this is not possible, the carving can also be fixed with small-headed nails. It is advisable to use small brad or wire nails, as these are less visible and do not damage the wood material. It is recommended to pre-drill the holes before hammering in the nails to avoid splitting the wood. The heads of the nails should be hammered below the wood's surface with a countersink, then the area can be leveled with wood filler for a neat, uniform finish. This method offers a secure and durable solution for attaching the ornaments.

Tendril patterns on furniture – a glance at the past

The use of the tendril in furniture decoration has a long history, especially on furniture associated with nobility, bourgeois homes, and the church. This motif almost always appears together with some form of floral motif in the carving. The floral motif symbolized harmony, life, and abundance. On Baroque and Renaissance furniture, detailed and stylized floral representations can be observed. On bourgeois and folk furniture, simpler, decorative floral forms were often featured.
