Among the capital of columns, this is a more refined version of the generally more ornate acanthus leaf pattern. This wooden carving is a popular choice for vintage furniture restoration or ornamenting cabinets and faux fireplaces. Browse our gallery and discover how others have used wooden decorative elements! The pieces only need to be glued and finished, which does not require cabinetmaker qualifications!
Dimensions of the carving: width: 5.8 cm, height: 10 cm, thickness: 2 cm. Size tolerance is plus or minus 3%. The capital of columns endpiece is adorned with an acanthus leaf design. Made from exotic wood, it offers ecological benefits since it is produced from by-products of rubber plantations, therefore considered a recycled material. It offers a cost-effective solution for carvings made of high-quality solid wood. As the natural color of the wood is light, it provides a neutral base for all finishing techniques—be it painting, stains, or wax. This product is not surface treated.

Wooden carving can be easily glued onto any wooden or wood-covered flat surface. Neither cabinetmaker expertise nor special tools are required for this. First, sand the back of the capital of columns and the receiving surface, then carefully dust both. Next, apply a thin, even layer of wood glue on both surfaces and join them together. Any glue that seeps out should be wiped away with a damp cloth before it dries to avoid leaving marks. Press the joined surfaces together with a cabinetmaker clamp or weight during drying, which can take up to 24 hours. After this, you can remove the fasteners.
Before any finishing, make sure the surface is free from dust and grease. With lacquer, stain, oiling, or waxing, you can enhance the grain and pattern of the wood. When staining, it is worth considering a filler primer (Milesi) to avoid tonal differences. With topcoat paint, you can match the color of the capital of columns to the furniture being made, although the wood grain will not be visible.
The acanthus leaf is one of the oldest and most significant decorative motifs in Western culture. Because the plant is highly resilient and regenerates quickly, it is no surprise that its primary meaning is eternal life, rebirth, and indomitable vitality. Acanthus motifs give classic elegance to carved furniture ornaments and carvings.
