The base material of the wooden onlay is exotic wood. Rubber wood is a sustainable timber, sourced from secondary use of the rubber tree, making it an excellent choice for the environment. Its medium-hard structure ensures adequate durability, while still being easy to work and carve. Its natural light color provides a neutral base for any surface treatment technique—from paint to stains to wax. Our carved items are untreated.

How should you glue wooden onlays?
For gluing carvings, we recommend using wood glue. As a first step, sand the receiving surface (sanding the back of the carving is not necessary) and carefully remove any dust. Apply a thin layer of glue to both surfaces, then press the two together. If a little glue seeps out when pressed or clamped, wipe it away with a damp cloth and wait for the recommended drying time. The drying time can take up to 24 hours; it is advisable to keep the clamp on for this period.
