The RK-709 carved piece combines the classic wooden rosette and corner ornament function in a symmetrical wooden flower form. It is ideal for decorating door and drawer fronts or corner elements during the restoration antique furniture. Since the floral motif is a popular and subtle element, we recommend it for decorating any indoor furniture.
The wooden rosette size: width: 4 cm, height: 4 cm, thickness: 0.7 cm. Round shape with a central floral motif. The decorative wood moulding is made of exotic (rubber) wood. Rubber wood offers ecological advantages, as it is made from by-products of rubber plantations, making it a recycled material. Its light and natural color provides a neutral base for any finishing method, from painting to stains or waxes. It is an excellent material for high-quality woodcarving. This product is unfinished.
Decorative wood moulding UK arrives ready to use, sanded before packaging, so it can be immediately applied to the receiving surface. Our products are favored not only by professional cabinetmakers but also by hobbyists and DIY project enthusiasts. As the product is available in its natural state, it can be matched to the final color of the furniture with the finishing method used during restoration antique furniture (painting / oiling / staining).
These wooden onalys are primarily recommended for cabinetmaking, for embellishing dressers, vitrines, and cupboards, but can also be excellently used as corner ornaments on window frames. Additionally, these carvings can be a unique part of the interior, used as door decorations or glued to the wall. Besides this, with smaller DIY projects, even tea boxes, storage containers, or crates can be decorated with this wooden rosette.
During restoration, preparing the surfaces is essential. First of all, it is recommended to disassemble the furniture, so all parts are easier to access later. If you decide on a full renovation, it is advisable to sand the entire surface down to the wood, first with coarse, then with increasingly finer sandpaper. If there are any details that can only be removed by hand sanding, this can be solved with good quality sanding cloth or sanding sponge. After that, place the chosen carving or corner ornament for the project on the appropriately prepared surface.
As previously described, preparing the receiving surface is important. As our products are shipped pre-sanded, it does not necessarily need to be sanded before installation. In the next step, apply a thin layer of wood glue to both the receiving surface and the back of the ornament, then put it in place. During drying – typically 24 hours – clamp or press the two surfaces together (it is advisable to use a cabinetmaker's clamp or weight). If the carving is not glued onto wood, it is recommended to use contact adhesive or secure the carving with a small-headed nail.
It is important that the surface is always clean and dust-free before starting work. Before staining, apply a filler primer (Milesi) to the surface of the decorative wood moulding UK to fill the cut fibers from carving (optional, but recommended for a more even result). For enthusiastic amateurs, the combination of stain and semi-gloss lacquer is best recommended. When using these, care should only be taken to apply the finishing material in a nice, thin, even layer. To achieve the desired effect, it is recommended to work in two or three thin layers.
The floral shape is a geometric decoration which appeared even in ancient Greek and Roman ornamentation. The floral motif symbolizes the harmony of nature and was often used on church furniture as well as noble furnishings. During the Baroque and Classical periods, cabinetmakers regularly used rosette-shaped wood carvings as central decorations for cabinets and dressers. Combined with a corner ornament function, the rosette is still a popular choice in restoration antique furniture today, as it ensures a balanced and symmetrical appearance.
If you can see and select the second class product, there are also a few second class ornaments made from that carving. These items may have minor defects such as discoloration, warping, or small chips or cracks.
