Technical details of cellulose-based decorative rattan panels

Material: folded-rolled cellulose treated with latex. Pattern: octagonal, density: 2 holes per inch. Width: 45 cm, with the weaving strands extending at least 2 cm beyond the nominal width on both sides. Roll length: 15.24 m (50 ft). Quality: first class Load-bearing capacity: decorative – The strands' tear strength is equal to natural rattan panels, but it does not fully return to its original size after strong load, so it is NOT suitable for seating surfaces. It can be fixed into a groove using reed core, but this method is not the most efficient. This product is sold by the meter.

PTH rattan roll – not for seating, but perfect for almost any other use

PTH cellulose-based decorative rattan is made of folded-rolled cellulose treated with latex. Therefore, this product is NOT recommended for thonet chair restoration; only use this product for decorative purposes. There is a significant difference between heavy-duty rattan material and decorative cellulose-based materials. While the load-bearing or “special (S)” grade is specifically designed for thonet chair repair, the decorative fabric shown here – as its name suggests – is a “decorative (D)” load strength material. It is much more affordable, but thinner, so it should only be used in places where high load capacity is not required. Such decorative uses include making cabinet door panel inserts, rattan radiator covers, or rattan panels for room division. When you purchase a whole rattan roll, you get a 10% discount.

Is decorative fabrics significantly weaker physically than those woven from rattan?

You might be surprised, but the tear resistance of decorative fabrics is almost the same as the natural rattan materials. Still, it is not advisable to use this product for load-bearing purposes as it tends to stretch slightly under pressure. Unlike natural rattan panels UK, this product does NOT return to its original tension when the load is removed, so it remains loose. This does not look nice, so this product is not recommended for such usage.

Natural elegance in our home – rattan panels for room division

Perforated cellulose-based alternative rattan panels for room division are both functional and decorative. The fine perforations let the light in, so the room remains spacious. This product can be used in homes, offices, or even in representative spaces. This is a material similar to rattan sheets, which discreetly yet effectively shapes the environment.

Where should you use cabinet door panel inserts made from rattan?

This product fits especially well with country-style or minimalist interiors. This decorative rattan-like material is durable yet lightweight, making installation easy. Is it possible to paint or stain decorative cellulose-based rattan sheets?

Yes, this material can be easily painted or stained with almost any varnish, stain, or covering paint. Because of the factory surface treatment, you do not need to worry about water-based products when painting. Always do a test painting on a small piece before treating the surface! Alternative rattan sheets require minimal maintenance, only regular dusting and wiping with a dry cloth. Watch our video about painting decorative rattan sheets UK.

How long does it take to make rattan radiator covers?

It depends on the size and the experience of the maker, but a rattan radiator cover can usually be made in a few days. Cellulose-based rattan material transfers heat well, so the radiator's efficiency is not reduced. At the same time, rattan radiator covers aesthetically hide the heater and give the room a modern look. Required materials: cellulose based or regular rattan panels UK, wooden slats for the frame, screws and a staple gun, hinges (if you want an openable cover). Steps: 1. Measure the radiator exactly, 2. Make the frame, 3. Cut the required cabinet door panel inserts, 4. Attach them to the frame, 5. Install the cover.

This product may also be known as decorative radiator cover.
