Most of our radio weave rattan is made from natural material sourced from the outer bark of rattan palms native to Southeast Asian tropical areas. As a result, these fabrics are strong and flexible, making them ideal for use as furniture seating surfaces. However, this particular webbing is NOT made from rattan palm bark, but from a folded and rolled cellulose material treated with latex. Therefore, though extremely strong, this product is less flexible than radio weave rattan materials. When loaded, it stretches similarly, but after the load is removed, it does NOT completely regain its original dimensions. Besides use as seating surfaces, any woodworking application is recommended.
The perforated cellulose-based webbing can be used in many versatile ways in everyday life. For example, as an alternative material for a rattan room divider is the perfect choice when both space organization and design matter. A rattan room divider crafted from this material separates rooms stylishly, while keeping the space visually light. Its perforated pattern ensures that the area remains bright and spacious. This fabric is easy to cut and shape, so various forms can be created from it. It’s also suitable for making unique lampshades and wall decorations.
For instance, you can also create an attractive rattan radiator cover with this product. Since the perforated textile does not block heat, it is an excellent option that allows effective heating and adds a decorative look to the radiator. Its perforation also allows you to create rattan door panels solution in a creative and practical way. Rattan door panels made from this decorative textile ensures proper ventilation, making it ideal for wardrobes and cabinet doors. Moisture and odours do not become trapped, so clothes, shoes and other textiles air out, stay fresher and the risk of mustiness is reduced.
As a first step, select a cellulose-based or other rattan roll that is 5-10 cm wider / longer than the inner measurements of the frame. Then staple along one side using a hand stapler. Continue with the opposite side, stretch the fabric and secure it. It is important not to deform the material. Once you have stapled around, carefully cut around with scissors or a wallpaper knife. Finally, you can cover the stapled line with a moulding strip if needed.
PROP radio weave cane webbing is cellulose-based and has a surface that is easy and smooth to paint. Not only can it be painted, but it takes paint much easier than traditional rattan webbing roll uk made from natural rattan. This is because radio weave rattan made from the rattan’s outer bark is much harder than cellulose (paper), so it absorbs less, making it harder to paint. In our experience, painting this cellulose-based webbing can be done with either water-based or solvent-based paints. However, regardless of the type of paint, always perform a test paint before proceeding.
This product may also be known as radio weave cane panelling.
