Bamboo blinds efficiently filter sunlight and, being made from natural materials, provide a calming appearance that blends seamlessly into the environment. Bamboo is a fast-growing, quickly renewable plant, making it an eco-friendly choice favored by conscious buyers. The semi-finished design is a practical choice as standard bamboo blinds sizes are adjusted to average window and door dimensions, so you can find the piece that best suits your needs in our range. Indoors, this product can be installed without treatment, while for outdoor use, wood oil or a thin stain is recommended. It provides privacy by allowing some natural light through, while creating pleasant shade. It is a strong yet lightweight material.
The BC09 variant is woven with UV-resistant thread, resulting in decorative bamboo blinds material on both sides. Color: three cream-colored rods, one brown (carbonized) slat. Bamboo blinds 100cm wide. Lengths available: 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, 200, 240 cm. 1G type mechanism with brake. Without surface treatment, it is suitable only for indoor use, or you may choose it with treatment.
Bamboo blinds are made from natural materials. Outdoor bamboo blinds UK are usually treated with wood oil or a thin stain. After treatment, the colors appear more vivid for a short time, while the bamboo surface may look more variegated. This effect will gradually disappear in about a month.
The thin stain soaks into the bamboo fibers, does not create a coating prone to cracking, and slows the material’s aging and fading. It is generally recommended to renew the staining every 2–3 years. If the blinds are exposed to strong, direct sunlight, the outdoor protection may lose effectiveness faster. In such cases, more frequent reapplication is recommended to keep the surface durable. This surface treatment also protects the material from frequent direct rain.
The oil penetrates deeply among the bamboo fibers, helping maintain the material’s flexibility. It reduces the chance of bamboo being damaged by moisture or intense sunlight. To preserve its protective effect, re-oiling every 2–3 years is advised. If this product is exposed to heavy use, more frequent maintenance may be necessary. This treatment does not protect the blinds if water or rain comes in direct contact.
Surface treatment should only be applied to clean, completely dry bamboo blinds, as a wet surface impedes absorption. Varnishing is not recommended as varnish forms a surface where microcracks appear over time.
It filters incoming light, reduces UV exposure, and therefore minimizes fading in outdoor surfaces and furniture. It reduces overheating, creating a more shaded environment on patio or balcony areas. On vertical surfaces, it effectively filters strong sunlight entering at an oblique angle. Oiling or staining makes the material more durable and increases resistance to rain and intense sunlight.

Indoor bamboo blinds only need occasional dusting and require no special maintenance. For the different sizes of bamboo blinds, maintenance is the same, operation is simple, and a video guide is provided for replacing the lift cord. For outdoor use—for example, if you install patio shades—it is advisable to treat the material with oil or a thin stain. The blinds should only be raised when completely dry; otherwise, mold may develop. Applying varnish is not recommended, as it forms a surface prone to microcracks over time. Important warning: strong winds can easily damage lowered blinds, so always raise them during windy or stormy weather.
Consider how much you wish to reduce incoming light and how much natural brightness you want to retain. If your goal is to significantly reduce light on the patio or balcony, it's worth choosing a denser, more light-blocking material. If you require only mild shading, then loosely woven bamboo roller blinds UK will be suitable.
In brief: for horizontal or slightly sloped (max 45 degrees) surfaces: BC30, for vertical surfaces: BC09. The BC30’s dense and slightly overlapping rods provide more effective shade from sunlight coming from above, so it's more suitable for horizontal or slightly tilted installations. In contrast, the BC09 filters strong, angled side light better, making it ideal for vertical surfaces.
Measure width and height in centimeters. When planning, also account for the space required by the rolled-up blinds. Watch our video to see exactly how to measure what size bamboo roller blinds UK you need. If you don't find a suitable standard size, choose custom production, for example bamboo blinds 100cm wide by 160cm long. This product may also be known as: argos bamboo blind, bamboo roman blinds UK.
