The treatment temporarily enhances the colors, making the material appear more variegated. This color effect diminishes in about a month. As a result of the treatment, it becomes more resistant to UV rays, water vapor, and mold.
The light glaze penetrates the bamboo, does not form a cracking surface, and helps slow wear and discoloration. The glazing treatment should generally be renewed every 2–3 years. When used as balcony sun shades in strong sunlight, the glaze protection may diminish faster, so repeat treatment more frequently if needed. It protects against the harmful effects of direct water, indirect humidity, and UV rays. If the roller blind material is wet, never roll it up; let it dry in the lowered position to avoid the risk of mold.
Oil deeply penetrates the bamboo fibers, preserves flexibility, and reduces the risk of damage from moisture and sunlight. For lasting effect, repeat treatment every 2–3 years, or even more often with heavy use. Oil protects less against direct water than glaze, but it does protect the material from humidity and UV rays. If the material is wet, never roll it up; allow it to dry in the lowered position to prevent the risk of mold.
The treatment should only be performed on completely dry, clean blinds, as moisture reduces absorption efficiency. Varnishing is not recommended, as it forms a surface that quickly develops microcracks.
