Bamboo blinds provide effective shading and are made from natural materials, offering a calming appearance that blends well with the environment. Bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource, making it an environmentally friendly option and providing a natural, unified surface for outdoor spaces. The semi-finished design is practical, as the standard bamboo blinds sizes are adjusted to average window and door dimensions, so you can find the one you need in our range. For indoor use, surface treatment is not required, while for outdoor use, oiling or a stained version is recommended. These blinds provide privacy but still allow some natural light to pass through, so the room will not be completely dark. It is a lightweight yet strong material. You can also install the blind matching the door or window size as no drill roller blinds with our ROLKA product, which must be purchased separately.
Our BC09 fabric is woven with terylene thread, featuring a decorative bamboo blind material on both sides. Color: 3 cream-colored rods, 1 brown (carbonized) slat. Bamboo blinds 90cm wide. Length ranges from 120cm to 150cm. 1G mechanism with brake. Without surface treatment, suitable only for indoor use.
The base material of the bamboo blind is a natural material. The exterior bamboo blinds are treated with wood oil or a thin stain. The treatment temporarily intensifies the colors and makes the material look more variegated. This effect disappears after about one month. This treatment can be done at home or we are happy to do it for you.
The thin stain penetrates the bamboo material instead of forming a surface layer, which could crack later, and helps slow down wear and discoloration. The stain treatment is generally recommended to be refreshed every 2–3 years. In areas exposed to strong sunlight, the stain protection of patio shades weakens faster, so repeating the treatment more frequently may be necessary. Staining provides the strongest protection against mold.
The oil penetrates deeply into the bamboo fibers, maintains flexibility, and reduces the risk of damage caused by moisture and sunlight. To maintain the effect, repeat treatment is recommended every 2–3 years or more frequently under heavy use. Oil treatment offers moderate protection against mold.
The treatment should only be applied to completely dry, dust-free blinds since moisture hinders absorption. Varnishing is not recommended as it hardens the surface and makes the rods brittle.
These blinds reduce incoming light, decrease UV exposure, and protect outdoor flooring and furniture from fading. They reduce heat buildup and make the patio or balcony shadier. It efficiently filters strong, angled sunlight on vertical surfaces. With surface treatment (oil or stain), they become more resistant to mold and intense sunlight.
For indoor bamboo blinds, occasional dusting is sufficient. We provide a 5-year warranty on the mechanism and support replacement with a video tutorial. For outdoor use, it is recommended to treat the material with wood oil or a thin stain; varnishing is not advised. Surface treatment should be repeated every 2–3 years, or more often if exposed to strong sunlight. Only raise the blinds when completely dry. Important warning! Strong winds will damage the lowered blinds! If left unattended or in windy, stormy weather, raise the blinds!
Consider how much you want to darken the space and how much natural light you wish to let in. If your primary goal is to reduce the light entering the patio or balcony, choose a material that filters light more effectively. For a more semi-shaded effect, choose a looser woven bamboo blinds UK material.
For horizontal or slightly sloped surfaces (max 45°), the BC30 type is best. For vertical surfaces, the BC09 material is ideal. The slightly overlapping slats of BC30 block more overhead light, while BC09 is more effective at filtering angled light.
Measure width and height in centimeters, accurate to one decimal place. For exterior installation, allow space for the rolled-up blind.
