The material of the bamboo roll up blinds is of natural origin. For exterior bamboo blinds, it is advisable to treat with wood oil or a thin protective stain. After treatment, the colors become temporarily brighter and the texture stands out more. This color-enhancing effect disappears after about a month.
The stain soaks into the bamboo, does not form a cracking layer, and helps slow down wear and discoloration. It's recommended to refresh the stain every 2–3 years; if the balcony outdoor blinds are exposed to intense sun, renew the protection more frequently as needed. Staining also protects exterior bamboo blinds from frequent and direct water exposure.
Oil also penetrates deeply into the bamboo, preserving flexibility and reducing the risk of moisture and sun damage. To maintain protection, repeat the treatment every 2–3 years, or more often if the blinds are heavily used. This treatment does NOT protect wicker blinds from frequent or direct water contact, only from less common and indirect exposure.
Perform oiling or staining exclusively on entirely dry, clean surfaces as moisture reduces absorption and drying efficiency. For exterior bamboo blinds, we do not recommend varnishing, as it forms a thin layer prone to micro-cracks over time.
These blinds reduce incoming sunlight and lessen UV effects, thus protecting exterior flooring and furniture from fading. They lower heat build-up, creating a shadier environment on your terrace or balcony. On vertical surfaces, they efficiently filter out strong angled sunlight. With stain treatment, these blinds stay resistant to rain and intense sun.

For indoor bamboo blinds UK, occasional dusting is sufficient. We offer a 5-year warranty on the blind mechanism and provide a video guide for replacement. For balcony outdoor blinds installed on terraces, it is recommended to apply wood oil or stain treatment. Repeat the treatment every 2–3 years or more often in strong sunlight. Always raise the blinds only when they are completely dry. We do not recommend varnishing, as it may cause micro-cracks over time. Important warning: strong winds can damage lowered bamboo roll up blinds, so always raise them during storms or windy weather!
For pre-made bamboo blinds, only certain standard sizes are available. If you choose custom-made bamboo roll up blinds, nearly any size can be ordered—just a few things need to be considered. The width can be up to 180 or 240 cm, depending on the type. The rolls are 15 meters long. Bamboo roller blinds uk are also available in 120x160 cm size.
Among the pre-made balcony outdoor blinds, the second-class options are available at a lower price. Minor variations may occur in these: width tolerance of ±3 mm, edge height can differ by 2 cm/m, slats may be slightly twisted, color not totally even and end pieces may be somewhat curved.
