To maintain the condition of outdoor bamboo blinds, it is essential to perform oiling or stain treatment (using a thin stain) from time to time (at least every 3 years). After treatment, the colors may temporarily become more vivid and the pattern of the material more pronounced, but this effect gradually disappears within about a month. We do not recommend lacquering the outdoor bamboo blinds, as it creates a surface on which microcracks appear in a short time. Store it in a dry, covered area during winter. In strong winds, the lowered blind can be damaged easily, so it should be rolled up in such weather.
It depends on where you install it. If you want to mount it horizontally or at a slight slope (up to 45 degrees), such as on top of a pergola for shading, then the BC-30 is the best choice. The dense, slightly overlapping slats almost completely block sunlight coming from above. For vertical shading (such as window or balcony sides), the BC-09 is a better recommendation.
A standard sized blind can be manufactured in about 1–2 working days without surface treatment. However, if the balcony sun shades are intended for terrace or any other outdoor use, prior surface treatment is required. The treated surface needs drying time, so production is somewhat longer but is usually completed within a week.
