How to choose bamboo blind material?

The raw materials for the bamboo blinds can be divided into two groups:

80-90% light blocking: BC 28 and BC 30.

70-80% light blocking: BC 09, BC 12, BC 13 and C1C.

Outdoor bamboo blinds

The bamboo blind materials are not surface treated. Material without surface treatment is unsuitable for outdoor use! We recommend two types of bamboo blinds for outdoor use:

Moderately weather-resistant outdoor blinds:

Both sides of the bamboo blinds are treated with wood oil (e.g. Sadolin Furniture Wood Oil). The treatment with wood oil will make the outdoor bamboo blind moderately water resistant. In the case of patio screens, balcony awnings, for example, in rainy and humid periods, if they are not exposed to direct water, they will be protected. However, it will not protect it if it is exposed to direct rainfall, in which case it will become mouldy. If the blind is exposed to water, always dry it when it is roll down. Only roll up the dry blinds! Bamboo blinds that are rolled up when wet will mould!
It is essential to note that bamboo blinds require maintenance, as the sun will "suck out" the wood oil. It should therefore be re-lubricated with wood oil every two years (preferably in autumn before the rainy season). In fact, it is best to have the outdoor shading blinds in the open space (bamboo partitions, screens, balcony shades) only when you really need them, in the summer. Be careful to apply the wood oil very thinly (sparingly), as the excess will not be absorbed by the bamboo blinds.

Weatherproof outdoor bamboo blinds:

The bamboo blind material is treated with a so-called thin lazur. This treatment makes the bamboo blind weatherproof and can be used, for example, to shade free-standing pergolas. It is not a problem if the blinds are exposed to water. But don't roll it up when it's wet because the water left in the roll will cause staining. Wait until the blind is dry and only then roll it up.
This outdoor bamboo blind also requires maintenance, every 2-3 years apply a thin coat of thin lazur to both sides. This can be done at home!
Important warning! A rolled down blind will be damaged by the wind. If the blinds are left unattended or the weather is windy or stormy, pull them up!
Useful advice! It is not recommended to varnish the outdoor bamboo blinds, as this will harden the weaving threads and they cannot be rolled up.
Bamboo blinds are made from a natural material. The outdoor bamboo blinds are treated with wood oil or thin lacquer. The treatment will temporarily brighten the colours and make the material look more sharp. This effect will wear off in about 1 month.

Slanted, oblique blinds

Bamboo is a natural material, color differences are possible between individual shipments, and the monitor may not fully reproduce the colors faithfully. It is safest if you are in control of the material. If you do not request a sample, we cannot accept a complaint due to a difference in color shade.

The typical production time for bamboo blinds is 5-10 working days. It depends on the number of orders. Added to this is the delivery time, which can be found in the confirmation of the order process.
